The Greater Victoria Shakespeare Festival is excited to present the world premier of We Talk of Dreams, written and directed by Asa O’Connor-Jaeckel. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, We Talk of Dreams weaves together contemporary and Shakespearean text into a playful, surreal, and intimate story about queer love and relationship. On the night of the Capulet party, Mercutio and Benvolio follow strange fragments of poetry into the heart of a labyrinthine garden. While Romeo and Juliet find each other off in the background, Mercutio and Benvolio attempt to navigate queerness, language, connection, and what it means to fall in love in an increasingly confusing world.
